Rocío is the heart and founder of Happy and Smiling Faces Daycare. With years of experience working in different daycare centers, she built this space with a clear purpose: to create a safe, loving, and trustworthy environment where children can feel supported and understood.
Her approach combines structure, emotional care, and continuous learning. Rocío is deeply committed to each child’s well-being, ensuring they feel protected, valued, and confident every day.
For her, childcare is not just a job, it’s a lifelong passion.
Growing up, I had the opportunity to help volunteer at my mom’s daycare, that she started completely on her own when I was young. Watching her build her childcare business through hard work, patience, and love for children has always inspired me. Now that I currently work with children at her daycare, I have been able to see firsthand how important early childhood education is and how much of a positive impact teachers and caregivers can have on children and their families. Working alongside my mom and seeing the care she puts into her work has strengthened my passion for education and inspired me to pursue a career in early childhood education with the goal of becoming a general education elementary teacher. I hope to create the same kind of supportive and caring environment for children that my mom created for so many families over the years.
Having been so directly involved in the formation and early years of Happy Faces Daycare has had a lasting impact on the community, the families it serves, and even my own life. I was merely a teenager when my mother decided to take the next step and form her own daycare. I knew my mother needed support not only with translation but also with navigating this unfamiliar process of seeking out and ensuring the proper documents were completed. During the remainder of my teenage years and early college years, I continued to directly support the daycare by taking on the more hands-on responsibilities in the daily routines and direct care of children. These early experiences working with children sparked my interest in pursuing a career in education. I am now a school psychologist for a school district in San Mateo County, primarily supporting our students in special education. I can’t help but forever be grateful for the experience and early impact Happy Faces Daycare has had.
